Encycled is creating a circular process for promotional materials

We have a problem

Every day companies are spending money on promotional products that are destined to be used once, sometimes for only a few hours. Even the best recycling methods struggle to extract value from these items, and since they have no resale value, they are often discarded to landfill.

The amount of global promotional waste is daunting to project. The UK alone hosts 85 million event attendees each year, with 13 million of these guests attending exhibitions. Additionally, each year the UK hosts over 1.3 million meetings and conferences.

In 2014, 3.17 million UK festival goers produced 23,500 tonnes of waste- 68% of which ended up in landfills. As the UK events industry continues to grow (est. 8% each year), so does the amount waste it generates.

As the 2018 State of Reuse Report highlights, ‘what many do not realize is that when an item is thrown away, it is not only the item itself going to waste, but the natural resources required to create it.’ Considering the production of a single cotton T-shirt requires 2,700 litres of water and produces about 4kg of carbon dioxide (without taking into account the environmental costs associated with its printing, shipping, packaging, use and disposal) creating such items for single use just isn’t an option any longer.

WE ALSO HAVE A Solution

Stop supporting the outdated promotional materials model and go circular with Encycled.

  • We work hard to ensure all of our items are made from durable, ecologically and socially conscious materials and provide a different way to demonstrate your commitment to the environment.

  • With flexible order quantities, short lead times and no storage burden, you'll save time, money and hassle.

  • We’ll keep track of your reductions in water, CO2e and material waste so that your positive impact is easy to understand and share.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  1. A client leases promotional materials with Encycled

  2. After the event, the materials are collected in Encycled’s pre-paid collection/delivery containers

  3. Items are transported by eco-friendly courier to Encycled’s local facility

  4.  The client receives a deposit back for every item that was collected for recycling

  5. Encycled cleans each item and removes the branding

  6. Items are re-branded and reprinted for use in another setting

We are currently working to demonstrate the business model that supports the Encycled vision as well as working with researchers and makers to refine the technology we need to make this vision a reality. If you share our vision and would like to work with us get in touch!
